Equal Opportunity Cell Policy

Purpose

The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) at A.S. Group of Institution is designed to foster a culture of inclusivity, equity, and non-discrimination by ensuring that all students and staff have equal access to academic and professional opportunities, regardless of their background, gender, caste, religion, disability, or socioeconomic status.

Scope

This policy is applicable to all students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders affiliated with AS Group of Institution.

Objectives

  • To guarantee equal access to education, resources, and opportunities for all students and employees.
  • To eliminate discrimination and cultivate a fair and supportive academic atmosphere.
  • To empower marginalized communities, including SC/ST, OBC, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and economically disadvantaged groups.
  • To offer counseling, grievance resolution, and awareness programs focused on diversity and inclusion.
  • To promote engagement in skill development, leadership initiatives, and career advancement opportunities for underprivileged populations.

Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) Structure

The EOC Cell will be responsible for overseeing the execution of policies related to equal opportunity and non-discrimination.

The following staff members are nominated for the purpose of Equal Opportunity Cell-

  • Dr. Prabhjot Kaur(Asst. Prof.) – Member
  • Prof. Ramandeep Kaur (Asst. Prof.) – Member
  • Mr. Gurdeep Singh (Clerk) – Member

Key Responsibilities of the EOC

  • Policy Implementation: Ensure that institutional policies are in accordance with national legislation regarding equality and non-discrimination.
  • Grievance Redressal: Address issues related to discrimination, harassment, or the denial of opportunities.
  • Awareness & Sensitization: Conduct workshops, seminars, and training sessions on gender equality, disability rights, and social inclusion.
  • Career Development Support: Provide scholarships, mentorship programs, and career guidance for underprivileged students.
  • Infrastructure & Accessibility: Ensure that campus facilities are accessible to all individuals.

Guidelines for Non-Discrimination and Inclusivity

  • Discrimination based on caste, gender, religion, disability, or economic status is strictly prohibited.
  • The institution will provide accessible facilities, including classrooms and libraries, for individuals with disabilities.
  • Faculty and staff will receive training in inclusive educational and administrative methods.
  • Students from underprivileged backgrounds will be offered specialized academic and financial assistance.

Grievance Resolution Process

Students or staff experiencing discrimination may report their concerns to the EOC Grievance Cell through

  • Email Complaint Portal
  • Confidential Complaint Boxes
  • Direct communication with the EOC Faculty Coordinator

The committee will conduct thorough investigations and suggest appropriate corrective actions.

A strict confidentiality policy and a zero-retaliation stance will be upheld to safeguard those who file complaints.

Compliance and Policy Evaluation

The EOC Cell will conduct an annual review of the policy to ensure alignment with government regulations and the adoption of best practices.
