Policy For SCST Cell

Introduction

The objective of this policy is to outline the roles, responsibilities, and structure of the SC/ST Cell at A.S. Group of Institutions. The policy aims to promote inclusivity, equality, awareness, and support for marginalized groups and individuals on campus, ensuring a fair, respectful, and supportive academic and social environment.

Purpose and Objective

The SC/ST Cell is established to promote social justice, welfare, and equal opportunities for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST). The cell aims to:

  • Address grievances and issues related to discrimination and harassment.
  • Ensure proper implementation of policies and schemes for SC/ST students.
  • Provide a supportive and inclusive environment for students from SC/ST backgrounds.

Composition of SC/ST Cell

The following committee for SC/ST category students is hereby constituted for the purpose of prevention and redressal of complaints of harassment and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

  • Dr. Prabhjot Kaur – Presiding Officer
  • Mr. Ranjit Singh – Member
  • Prof. Himanshi – Member
  • Prof. Jashanpreet Kaur – Member
  • Ms. Gurjot Kaur – Member
  • Ms. Balwinder Kaur – Member

All the aggrieved students, staff members and others may henceforth approach the above mentioned members of committee for SC/ST.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following committee for SC/ST category students is hereby constituted for the purpose of prevention and redressal of complaints of harassment and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

  • Ensure Equal Opportunities: Ensure that students from SC/ST backgrounds receive equal opportunities for academic, social, and extracurricular activities.
  • Grievance Redressal: Address complaints or grievances related to discrimination, harassment, or denial of rights based on caste or tribal background.
  • Awareness Programs: Conduct awareness campaigns on the rights and privileges of SC/ST students, including scholarships, reservations, and government welfare schemes.
  • Welfare and Counseling: Provide counseling support to students from SC/ST communities, helping them adjust to the academic and social environment of the institution.
  • Monitoring Implementation: Ensure the proper implementation of government policies related to SC/ST students, including reservations in admissions and faculty positions.

Supportive Measures

  • Scholarship Information: Provide information and assistance in applying for government and institutional scholarships for SC/ST students.
  • Remedial Classes: Organize remedial classes and mentorship programs to help SC/ST students cope with academic challenges.
